Though it's old news that Google bought YouTube back on October 9th, the word that Google has made a very public commitment to the Mac platform is something you might have missed. From their blog:
"We want to provide great products and services to the tens of millions of Mac users around the world, because it's the right thing to do, and because Mac users inside and outside Google demand it. That's why we've recruited some of the best, most passionate Mac people out there for a Mac Engineering team."
The company says this means that they will strive to make apps like YouTube Mac compatible, which is a relief to anyone who has struggled with an application that gave up on the Mac platform (like Explorer).
They've already set up a page for Mac-friendly Google Software and an official Google Mac Blog for their technical team.
Okay, I'm still not a Widget fan, but as a Mac user, I'm happy that my Search-Engine-Of-Choice is staying with me.
I wish I could've said the same about my Betamax VCR.
