An interesting thing happened across the street a few weeks ago (just getting around to posting it. Maybe because the picture was so blurry.)
The woman inside this gold SUV ran out of the Marinello School of Beauty (left, out of frame) after a tow truck had hooked up her car for illegally parking in the 99 Cents Only lot. Before the tow truck had time to speed away, she unlocked her car and hopped in.
Mayhem ensued.
The tow truck driver tried to get her out, she yelled at him then got on the phone. (To who? Her lawyer? A priest? Who could help at that point?)
Then the LAPD pulled up. We all thought it was over at that point. Nope.
Over the next hour and a half two police cars containing four LAPD officers stood outside her car debating what to do. They talked to her. They talked to the tow truck guy. They talked to each other. She talked on the phone a lot. The men and women from the Marinello School of Beauty stood by, smoking and speculating.
Meanwhile (I'm guessing) people were beaten, run over, and mugged all around the city.
In the end the woman got out of the SUV, the tow truck driver took it away, and she got in a car with a friend. The police gave her a piece of paper and sent her on her merry way.
The takeaway from this story? It really pays to have a window seat.

Oh good God, I can't believe that! You're right; while they were hemming and hawing over this stupid woman, god knows what else was going on!
I'm telling you, if the LAPD had my manager as their Chief (hmmm, Chief Susie Hall), there'd be no chance of this happening. In fact, you'd have an exceptionally courteous police force that always "hit their numbers".
