In the never ending (we hope) saga of Quark versus InDesign, Quark rolled out its version 7 of the product last week in NY.
[On a side note: Why not LA? What's wrong with LA?]
I don't take sides (because I'm equally terrible in both programs, not because we do a lot of business with Adobe), but Creative Pro does. They have an excellent review by Jay Nelson today, letting you know what's new, what works, and what doesn't.
We've been getting more and more clients switching over to InDesign, but not as many as we expected considering the ballyhoo when Adobe first released it.
Then again, there were a lot of folks who thought InDesign would die in the face of the Quark Goliath. They weren't so right, either.
Any notes from the fields?
Ballyhoo? Really?
Yes. Ballyhoo.
Someone asked me how to do something in Quark today. I called Regina. Unfortunately my hands-on page layout skills ended with Pagemaker 4.2.1. (or so). I also used to know a program called Ragtime. Anyone heard of it? Didn't think so.
I used WordStar awhile ago. It did NOT rock. It was exactly the opposite of rocking.
